Hi everyone, Dave here wishing you a very happy Friday from Scotland.
I hope everyone’s doing well today. I have a lot of great things to share with you this month, including the first six completed pages from Killtopia: Nano Jams - our upcoming anthology that’s hitting Kickstarter THIS MONTH (surprise!)
You can sign up for the Kickstarter now over on our pre-launch page.
As always: if you’re on the socials, you can also follow me on Twitter, BlueSky, Instagram and now TikTok - where I’ve been posting comic writing tips and fun gaming clips from my retro game collection.
Here we go…
1. Wish Upon a Star - now funding!
I’ve teamed up with the wonderful artist Matt Garbutt to create a short story for Wish Upon a Star - the new comic anthology from Limit Break Comics.
You can check it out and back a copy on Kickstarter now.
It’s a collection of short stories that put sci-fi spins on classic fairytale stories. Our story is called S.T.R.I.N.G.S and it’s is dark take on Pinocchio that mashes up aspects of Half-Life, Predator, Ex Machina and RoboCop (trust me, hah!)
The less you know our story, the better, so I’ll leave the plot a mystery for now :P
2. Hireillo Kickstarter guide
The great Hireillo (a great resource for comic creators!) invited me to write a guide to help people set up their own Kickstarter campaigns. You can read it here.
It’s a short guide, and there’s so much more to say about how to set up campaigns, but the piece covers all the 100% must-have essentials you need to know.
If you want even more tips, my free eBook guide ‘Crowdfunding Comics’ is still available - with tips from my last ten years of running comic Kickstarters, and my career as a digital content marketer. Stay tuned for a (long overdue) 2024/5 updated edition at some point this year…
The Hireillo guide also features this rad artwork by friend of the newsletter, David Cousens (hire them!)
3. Killtopia: Nano Jams - the first six pages
Nano Jams is the first short story anthology set in the world of my cyberpunk comic series, Killtopia. At over 70 pages, it features 20 stories about how today’s media technology could evolve in the twisted, dystopian future of Neo Tokyo.
You can sign up for the Kickstarter now over on my pre-launch page.
Before I launch into the pages, here’s the final (for now) line up of Nano Jams contributors. They’re an incredibly talented and lovely bunch, and I feel lucky to be making this book with them.
You can learn more about them and follow their work over on the official Killtopia site.
All looks fantastic, Dave! Congratulations 😁👍
