Hello everyone, Dave here with confirmation that production of BPM: Beatdowns Per Minute #2 - me and Steve Gregson’s comic tribute to retro beat ‘em ups - has resumed production after a few months of delay.
BPM is a Killtopia prequel set in 1993 and follows vigilante martial arts cop, Maya Wickburn and fellow dojo student Ashby as they fight to defeat an evil drug cartel that has taken over Stone City with a mysterious new drug called BPM.
You can buy the first issue from my store here if you like games such as Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Double Dragon and Street Fighter: https://davecookcomics.bigcartel.com/product/bpm-beatdowns-per-minute-1
I wanted to say a big sorry and thank you again to all our Kickstarter backers for being so patient with us. Our other comic, Ninja Baseball Spirits #1 was hit with delays, which pushed things back, then both Steve and I changed jobs and we got hit with huge projects and deadlines we couldn’t miss - such is the life of two independent comic creators. Sometimes, unfortunately, life just gets in the way.
But, we’re back on the horse and Steve’s working on some fresh new pages. I wanted to share a little uncoloured panel teaser with you, which shows a crew of street ninjas rumbling with some Stone City cops (one of them clearly studied at the same dojo as Ryu and Ken Masters…)
I always like to be transparent with our backers, so I have to say that we’ll likely miss our proposed June shipping date - as BPM colourist Lou Ashworth is hard at work finishing colours on Killtopia #5 as well. It’s a combination of many life things, and I’ll plan ahead a bit better next time too.
Just know that we’re on our way now and I’ll share things regularly so you can see how we’re progressing.
Thanks so much for your patience and support, and I’d you have any feedback about the delay or you want to chat - please send me a DM - I’m always happy to help!
-Dave
