Hey everyone, Dave here from a (surprisingly) sunny Scotland. I hope you’ve all had a great week so far!
I didn’t do a full newsletter in April, as I was waiting on approval to announce something new and awesome I’m working on for a publisher.
That ‘something’ is still happening, but it’ll need a little longer in the oven before I can announce it. Stay tuned for more! 👀
Also, Killtopia: Phantoms production will kick off soon, and we’re getting close to revealing it in full - along with a Kickstarter announcement.
My Substack subscribers will get early access to the full reveal and our Kickstarter announcement - so if you’ve not subscribed yet, you can do so here for free:
I’m also trying to bump up my socials a little, so if you’d like to chuck me a follow, you’ll find me here:
In the meantime, here are two quick wee bits of news I wanted to share with you:
1. Hello Darkness vol.1 is out now!
Last year, I contributed a story to issue #1 of Hello Darkness - Boom! Studio’s new monthly horror anthology.
The story’s called ‘Stay in Your Lane’ - a gnarly ten-pin bowling slasher story with plenty of bowling-themed kills, with art by David Cousens, colours by Angel de Santiago and letters by Nathan Kempf.
This week, Boom! has just released Hello Darkness: Volume 1, which collects the first four issues, and features such talent as Garth Ennis, Becky Cloonan, James Tynion IV and many more.
It’s available worldwide now online and in all good comic stores. See where you can grab a copy through the link!
You can even ask your local comic store to order a copy in for you, if they don’t have it.
Here’s a page sampler to give you an idea of how wild our story gets 😅
(This kill was 100% inspired by the ‘Shine-O-Ball-O’ joke from The Simpsons. If you know, you know!)
2. I’m a guest at MCM London Comic Con!
I’m mega hyped about this one, and feeling a great deal of imposter syndrome!
MCM London is on May 24-35 at the Excel, and I have a table in Artist Alley. I’ll have copies of Killtopia: Complete, Nano Jams, Killtopia #1-5, Hello Darkness Vol. 1, Ninja Baseball Spirits and BPM: Beatdowns Per Minute. Say hi if you’re at the show 👋
On the Saturday, I’m doing the above Titan Comics panel, where we’ll tell you how to start making your own indie comics - including tips, techniques and things to look out for. It’s going to be a blast!
Lastly…
Be sure to check out my online store if you’re new to all my comic work. You can grab print and digital copies of Killtopia and other works.
Thanks everyone, I hope you have a great time in May 👋
-Dave
